Author Guidelines

• Submitted manuscripts must not have been published previously or be under consideration by another journal.

• All formatting for submitted manuscripts should be in accordance with the latest edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association.

• Beneath the Abstract, authors should provide three to five key words or terms. These key words or terms should be separated by semi-colons.

• When possible articles should be submitted as Microsoft Word files. OpenOffice and RTF documents can also be used.

• Article Length
o  Article length for Research and for Practice and Application articles is limited to 25 double-spaced pages (assuming one inch margins, 12-point Times New Roman font). Article length for Theoretical and Review articles is generally limited to 40 double-spaced pages (assuming one inch margins, 12-point Times New Roman font).Title and Abstract pages, References, Tables, and Figures are not included in the page limit. Authors who feel they have a strong case for exceeding these page limits should contact the Editor with their request and justification for additional space.
o  A Brief Report option will be available for Research and for Practice and Application articles. Brief reports provide an opportunity to contribute focused, but important information. Brief reports are appropriate for pilot studies reporting intriguing preliminary results or for high-quality completed studies with relatively small sample sizes. Brief Report submissions should not be more than 12 double-spaced pages (assuming one inch margins, 12-point Times New Roman font).
o  Reviews of Books and Other Materials are typically limited to 2,000 words. Longer submissions will be considered for reviews of two or more complementary works.
o  Shared Reminiscence contributions are limited in length to 2,000 words or six minutes of audio supplied in a digital .mp3 format.

• Submitting authors are required to create an account on the journal’s website (www.ijrlr.org). After logging into their account, authors will be able to electronically submit their manuscript for consideration by following the instructions after selecting the “Submit Article” link.

• For articles accepted for publication, separate digital picture files in .jpeg, .tiff, or .png format will be required for each figure. The resolution of these picture files should be at least 300 DPI. Instructions for submitting picture files are provided on the Article Submission page within an author’s IJRLR account. Color figures are welcome when they add to the information content and interpretability of the figure. Authors are invited to communicate with the Editor directly (tpierce@radford.edu) if they are unsure of procedures for submitting picture files.

• Authors are responsible for securing written permission to reproduce any copyrighted materials. Copies of written permissions must be received by the Editor before manuscripts can receive final acceptance for publication.
